STORE POLICIES
Thank you for shopping with The Maker’s Habit. Many of our products are handmade, made to order, 3D printed, poured, finished, or assembled by us in small batches. Because of the nature of handmade and digitally manufactured products, slight variations are normal and are part of the manufacturing process.
By placing an order with The Maker’s Habit, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the policies below.
HANDMADE & MADE-TO-ORDER PRODUCTS
Handmade does not mean machine-perfect.
Small cosmetic variations may occur from one product to another, including slight differences in color, texture, placement, finish, dimensions, glitter, pigment, print lines, seams, or other minor characteristics.
Product photos are representative of the item you will receive but are not a guarantee that every handmade item will be completely identical.
Minor cosmetic variations that do not affect the intended function of the product are not considered defects.
We do not replace or refund products solely because of normal handmade or manufacturing variations.
FRESHIES
Every freshie is handmade individually. No two freshies will be exactly alike.
Minor differences in color, glitter placement, decoration, surface texture, or other cosmetic details are normal.
Freshie Care & Safety
Freshies are designed to hang freely.
- Do not lay freshies directly against dashboards, consoles, seats, plastic, leather, vinyl, painted surfaces, furniture, or other surfaces.
- Do not wedge or trap a freshie between a windshield and sun visor.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Freshies may soften, warp, melt, discolor, or release fragrance oils when exposed to excessive heat.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Freshies are not intended for consumption.
Fragrance oils may damage certain materials or finishes. The Maker’s Habit is not responsible for damage resulting from improper placement, storage, handling, excessive heat exposure, or failure to follow our care instructions, to the extent permitted by law.
Scent Strength & Longevity
Fragrance strength varies by scent, environment, temperature, airflow, storage, and individual sensitivity.
Most freshies may remain fragrant for approximately 3–6 weeks or longer, but this is an estimate only and is not a guarantee of fragrance duration or strength.
Warmer temperatures may cause fragrance to release more strongly and may also cause the fragrance to dissipate more quickly.
It is also possible to become accustomed to a fragrance over time and notice it less even when others can still smell it.
Loss or reduction of fragrance over time is not considered a product defect and is not eligible for refund, replacement, return, or exchange.
Melting, warping, or damage caused by heat, improper placement, or misuse is also not considered a manufacturing defect.
3D-PRINTED PRODUCTS & FRESHIE HOUSINGS
Our 3D-printed products are produced layer by layer. This process naturally creates characteristics that are different from injection-molded or mass-produced plastic items.
Normal characteristics may include:
- Visible layer lines
- Small seams or start/stop points
- Minor surface texture
- Slight variations around supported areas
- Small differences in color or finish between material batches
- Minor dimensional variation
- Small cosmetic marks resulting from support removal or finishing
These characteristics are normal parts of the 3D-printing process and are not considered defects unless they materially prevent the product from functioning as described.
We inspect products before shipment and will not knowingly send an item with a functional manufacturing failure.
Heat & Storage
3D-printed materials may soften, warp, or deform when exposed to excessive heat.
Unless a product listing specifically states otherwise:
- Do not leave 3D-printed items in prolonged direct sunlight or excessive heat.
- Do not expose them to open flames or heating elements.
- Do not microwave or place them in a dishwasher.
- Do not assume a product is food-safe simply because it is plastic.
Damage caused by heat exposure, misuse, modification, improper storage, or use outside the purpose described in the product listing is not considered a manufacturing defect.
RESHIE HOUSINGS
Freshie housings are 3D-printed production tools intended to help makers create silicone molds for use in their own freshie-making business or personal production.
Unless specifically stated otherwise in writing, purchasing a freshie housing from The Maker’s Habit grants the purchaser permission to use that physical housing to create silicone molds for their own use only.
You may use molds created from our housings to produce and sell your own finished freshies.
What You MAY Do
You may:
- Use the purchased housing to create silicone molds for your own personal or business use.
- Use those molds to create finished freshies.
- Sell the finished freshies you personally create using those molds.
What You MAY NOT Do
You may not:
- Sell, gift, distribute, or otherwise provide silicone molds created from our housing to another person or business.
- Produce silicone molds from our housing for wholesale, resale, trade, giveaway, or commercial distribution.
- Use our housing to manufacture molds on behalf of another business.
- Rent, lend, lease, or commercially share the housing for the purpose of producing molds.
- Reproduce, duplicate, cast, scan, photographically reconstruct, reverse-engineer, digitize, or otherwise recreate the housing itself.
- Create an STL, CAD file, mesh, digital model, master, negative, or other reproduction derived from the housing.
- Sell, share, upload, transfer, or distribute any reproduction of the housing or its underlying design.
- Claim our housing design as your own.
- Use our designs to create substantially identical competing housings or molds for resale.
Buying a physical housing does not grant mold-production rights for resale and does not transfer ownership of the underlying design.
The commercial permission included with a physical housing is limited specifically to the purchaser creating molds for their own use and selling the finished freshies produced from those molds.
Any broader manufacturing or licensing rights must be granted separately and in writing by The Maker’s Habit.
SILICONE FRESHIE MOLDS
Our silicone molds are handmade from physical masters and are individually poured and finished.
Normal variations may include:
- Minor surface bubbles outside the functional mold cavity
- Slight color differences
- Small edge irregularities
- Minor variations in thickness
- Cosmetic marks on the exterior or back of the mold
These are not considered defects when they do not affect the usable molding surface or the mold's intended function.
Mold Use & Care
The lifespan of a silicone mold depends heavily on how it is used, cleaned, stored, and demolded.
To extend the life of your mold:
- Avoid sharp objects when removing finished products.
- Do not aggressively stretch or pull thin or detailed areas.
- Clean gently according to the intended use of the mold.
- Store molds flat or in a manner that prevents permanent distortion.
- Use materials and temperatures appropriate for the mold's intended purpose.
Tearing, cutting, staining, discoloration, scent transfer, residue buildup, warping, or deterioration caused by use, cleaning methods, material incompatibility, improper storage, excessive heat, or normal wear are not manufacturing defects.
Finished results may vary depending on the buyer's materials, oven, temperature, technique, curing process, bead type, fragrance load, and other variables. We do not guarantee a specific finished result simply because the same mold was used.
Unless expressly stated in the listing, molds are not represented as food-safe.
Silicone freshie molds purchased directly from The Maker’s Habit may be used to create finished freshies for personal use or commercial resale unless the individual product listing specifically states otherwise.
You may sell the finished freshies you personally create using our molds.
Purchasing one of our silicone molds does not give permission to reproduce or commercially distribute the mold itself.
You may not:
- Recast or duplicate our mold.
- Create additional molds from our mold.
- Use our mold as a master for mold production.
- Sell, gift, wholesale, trade, or distribute reproductions of our mold.
- Scan, digitize, reverse-engineer, or recreate the underlying design.
- Create or distribute a housing, master, STL, or digital model based on our mold.
- Claim our design as your own.
The distinction is simple:
Sell what you make with the mold. Do not sell copies of the mold.
COMMERCIAL USE & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
COMMERCIAL USE & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All artwork, designs, STL files, digital models, masters, housings, mold designs, branding, graphics, and other original creative work offered by The Maker’s Habit remain the intellectual property of The Maker’s Habit unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Purchasing a physical or digital product gives you only the usage rights specifically stated for that product.
Ownership of a product is not ownership of the design.
Physical Freshie Housings
Purchasers may use our housings to create silicone molds for their own use only and may sell finished freshies produced from those molds.
Purchasers may not sell or distribute molds created from our housings.
Silicone Freshie Molds
Purchasers may use our molds to produce and sell finished freshies.
Purchasers may not reproduce, recast, manufacture, or distribute copies of our molds.
STL & Digital Designs
Digital files are governed separately by the license provided with the file or through an active The Maker’s Habit commercial licensing membership.
Commercial rights to a digital file are not included simply because you purchased a physical housing, mold, freshie, or other finished product.
Likewise, purchasing an STL or holding a commercial STL license does not automatically grant permission to manufacture and sell every derivative product unless that use is expressly permitted by the applicable license.
No Implied Rights
If a particular use is not expressly allowed by our product listing, license terms, or written permission from The Maker’s Habit, you should not assume that permission has been granted.
Commercial licenses and permissions are non-transferable unless specifically stated otherwise.
CUSTOM ORDERS
Custom and personalized products are made specifically for the purchaser and may require design, modeling, printing, mold-making, testing, or other production work before the finished product is created.
Once production or design work has begun, custom orders cannot be cancelled, changed, returned, or exchanged except at our sole discretion or where required by law.
Payment for a custom housing, mold, or other physical product does not grant ownership, exclusivity, reproduction rights, mold-resale rights, STL rights, or other intellectual-property rights unless those rights are specifically purchased and granted in writing by The Maker’s Habit.
If you provide us with artwork, logos, characters, images, wording, or other material for a custom order, you represent that you have the necessary permission to use that material. We reserve the right to refuse any custom request.
PROCESSING TIMES
Our standard processing time is 7–14 business days, unless a different processing time is stated on the product page, website banner, preorder listing, or other applicable notice.
Business days are Monday through Friday and exclude federal holidays.
Processing time begins after payment is successfully received and does not include carrier transit time.
Tracking information may be generated when your order enters the final stage of processing. Tracking creation does not necessarily mean the package has already been accepted by the carrier.
Please allow approximately 24–48 hours after carrier pickup for tracking information to update.
High-volume launches, sales, custom orders, preorders, holidays, supply delays, equipment failures, weather, or other circumstances may occasionally affect processing times.
If we cannot ship within the time promised, we will provide appropriate notice and options consistent with applicable law. Federal online-order rules generally require sellers who cannot meet their advertised shipping timeframe to obtain consent to the delay or provide a refund for the unshipped merchandise.
SHIPPING
Shipping estimates shown by the carrier are transit estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates unless the carrier specifically provides a guaranteed service.
Once your package has been accepted by the carrier, transit speed is controlled by the carrier.
Delays caused by carrier operations, weather, holidays, transportation interruptions, or other events outside our control are not considered processing delays by The Maker’s Habit.
Shipping Addresses
Customers are responsible for entering a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout.
Please review your address before submitting your order.
If an order is returned to us because of an incorrect, incomplete, or undeliverable address supplied by the customer, the customer is responsible for any additional shipping charges required to resend the order.
If the shipping error was made by The Maker’s Habit, we will correct it at our expense.
We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order has been placed.
LOST, STOLEN & DAMAGED PACKAGES
If a shipment arrives visibly damaged, photograph the package before discarding any packaging materials.
For damaged shipments, please retain:
- The shipping box or mailer
- Packing materials
- Damaged merchandise
- Shipping label
- Photos showing the damage
These items may be required by the carrier during a claim.
USPS states that either the sender or recipient may file qualifying claims for insured mail that is lost, damaged, or missing contents.
Please contact us if your package is damaged or appears lost so we can determine the appropriate next step and assist where reasonably possible.
Packages showing Delivered by the carrier are not automatically considered lost. Customers should first check around the delivery location, household members, neighbors, parcel lockers, and the carrier before requesting assistance.
CUSTOMS, DUTIES & TAXES
The Maker’s Habit is not responsible for customs duties, import taxes, tariffs, brokerage charges, or other government fees imposed on an order.
Any such fees are the responsibility of the purchaser unless otherwise required by law.
RETURNS, EXCHANGES, REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS
Because many of our items are handmade, made to order, custom, or produced specifically after purchase, all sales are final unless the item arrives incorrect or with a qualifying manufacturing defect, or unless otherwise required by law.
We do not accept returns or exchanges for:
- Change of mind
- Ordering the wrong item, size, design, scent, color, or quantity
- Normal handmade variations
- Normal 3D-printing characteristics
- Minor cosmetic differences
- Scent preference
- Fragrance becoming weaker over time
- Heat damage or melting
- Damage caused by misuse or improper storage
- Mold wear caused by use
- Damage caused during demolding
- Material incompatibility
- Customer production results
- Items altered, used, repaired, modified, cleaned, baked, poured into, or otherwise processed after receipt
Orders cannot be cancelled once production has begun.
Any exception outside these policies is made solely at the discretion of The Maker’s Habit and does not create an obligation to make the same exception on another order.
Nothing in this policy limits any consumer right that cannot legally be waived. Texas consumers remain protected by applicable consumer-protection law.
DEFECTIVE OR INCORRECT ITEMS
We stand behind our workmanship.
If you believe you received an incorrect item or a product with a functional manufacturing defect, contact us as soon as possible after delivery.
Please include:
- Your order number
- A description of the issue
- Clear photographs of the entire product
- Close-up photographs showing the issue
- Photographs of the packaging if shipping damage may have occurred
- Video when necessary to demonstrate a functional issue
Do not use, modify, bake with, pour into, cut, alter, repair, glue, sand, paint, or otherwise modify the item before contacting us.
Once an item has been used or modified, we may be unable to determine whether an issue existed when the product was received.
If we determine that the item has a qualifying manufacturing defect or that we sent the incorrect item, we may, as appropriate, repair it, replace it, provide the correct item, issue store credit, or issue a refund.
If we require an item to be returned before issuing a refund or replacement, return instructions will be provided.
WHAT IS NOT CONSIDERED A DEFECT
For clarity, the following generally do not qualify as defects when they do not interfere with the item's intended function:
Minor layer lines, seams, texture, support marks, tiny cosmetic bubbles, slight color variations, glitter placement, minor mold-edge irregularities, slight dimensional differences, small finishing marks, fragrance-strength differences, or other characteristics inherent to handmade, 3D-printed, or silicone-cast products.
A product being different from what you personally expected is not automatically the same thing as a defective product.
If functionality is affected, however, contact us. We would much rather look at the damn thing than have everybody angrily staring at it from opposite sides of the internet.
HOURS & COMMUNICATION
Our website accepts orders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our normal business days are Monday through Friday. Messages received on weekends or holidays may not receive a response until the next business day.
We do our best to respond to customer-service messages within 1–2 business days.
Sending multiple messages through multiple platforms may delay rather than speed up a response, so please use our designated customer-service contact whenever possible.
RIGHT TO REFUSE OR CANCEL ORDERS
The Maker’s Habit reserves the right to refuse or cancel an order where permitted by law, including orders involving suspected fraud, abusive or threatening conduct, pricing or listing errors, intellectual-property concerns, product misuse, or circumstances that prevent us from reasonably fulfilling the order.
If we cancel a paid order before fulfillment, any amount owed for the cancelled merchandise will be refunded.
CHANGES TO THESE POLICIES
We may update these policies as our products, processes, and business evolve.
The policy in effect at the time an order is placed will generally govern that order unless applicable law requires otherwise.
By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agreed to the applicable product descriptions, care instructions, processing times, and store policies.
